I'm really digging the Smart EQ Fortwo and thinking about grabbing a used one. But I'm getting a bit anxious about maintenance costs, especially the battery. My main worry is how long the battery will last without a warranty. I've heard swapping it out can be really expensive. So how much of a headache is the battery situation for the Smart Fortwo ED? Any owners here who can spill the beans on what it's like?

So far, Smart EQ batteries have a decent track record, some owners are seeing close to 10 years of use with minimal degradation. But yes, replacement can be a bit steep, so I’d recommend checking the battery health on any used model you’re looking at. Some dealerships might offer a health check or diagnostic, which can give you a better idea of its remaining life. If you’re careful with charging, like not always going to 100% or letting it drain completely, it should hold up well!
